The Dawn Patrol

May 31, 2023 – Sorry to hear of John Roles’ passing. We played together in a few different acts over the years, and it was always a treat to share the stage. Here’s a shot from one of the final versions of The Dawn Patrol, with John, Al Harlow, and David Domino. We worked pretty much nonstop during Expo 86 and always had a great time. Condolences to his loved ones.

The original Dawn Patrol started back around 1985 with Steven Drake, David Domino, Jimmy Walker and myself. Al Harlow replaced Steven in 1986, and then John Roles replaced Jimmy soon after. By 1987 everyone was too busy with other projects so we retired the band. Soon after, Steven asked if he could use the name, which was fine by me. His version eventually morphed into the Juno-nominated Odds.
