This one bears some explanation. This video is from the Fuck Cancer benefit in 2022, and the entire night ended with the full crew out front singing Jerry Doucette’s “Mama Let Him Play”. Ray Ayotte had been playing percussion most of the night, and Pat Steward joined us on second drum kit for the finale. Jerry passed away earlier in the year, but as Rocket Norton told the audience, if not for that, he would surely be there playing that song. The band was led by Anthony Della Croce, Jerry’s long time guitar foil. I played plenty of shows where Jerry shared the bill with acts I was on, but never played together, until this night, more in spirit.
